Summer's Over (Playing Thread 1)

Jen smiled and grabbed the glasses and put them on the bench.  

"Not such a bad day then," glancing at Jack, while she rinsed out the glasses.  

She sat back at the table again. "So how was Dawson today?" she asked him curiously.

"Good" Pacey said, giving Andie a soft smile. Not sure how she felt about them right now, but wanting to see how she was and hope to be friends still. "How was your summer? Anything exciting happen?"

*Pacey*

"Yeah, all in all, not a bad day." Jack said with a smile.

"Dawson was good today. We kind of had to keep joking to keep from getting bogged down by the work. He seemed in good spirits when I dropped him off a bit ago." Jack answered. "How's Grams today?"

[Joey P]

Joey looked at Andie and could sense a desire to leave. "It's so good to see you." Joey said to Andie. Joey knew that she had hurt Andie by hooking up with Pacey. Joey didn't want to lose Andie as a friend, but she couldn't hold back her feelings for Pacey. Joey looked at Andie and smiled.

"Grams has been well.  Lately she has been helping do a raffle for her church.  I was even contemplating on helping her." answered Jen noticing Jack's look of surprise.
 "I know, I can't believe I was thinking that." frowning to herself.  Running her hands through her hair, she looked at Jack thoughtfully.
"Summer is going and school is starting.  It's our last year  at Capeside High," sighed Jen. "Wonder what this year brings?"

"uh, yeah, it's really good to see you guys too.. together." andie felt so weird.  she just wasn't ready for this yet.  she accepted pacey falling in love with joey, but to actually see them together-- she had to plaster a smile on her face to keep tears of hurt falling down her face.

it suddenly got extremely quiet between the three teenagers.  eyes shifted from one person to the other, all the while smiling, heads looking down, bodies swaying from side to side..

"so, well, my summer was great," andie finally piped up.  "actually, i was on my way to grab some lunch for jack and me and i just realized i had forgotten my wallet!"  the girl half-fibbed.  she slapped her head playfully and gave a 'duh' expression.  "so i better get going, you know jack, can't keep him waiting too long when it comes to food," she joked and started to back away.

Joey noticed that Andie was in a hurry. "Okay...I guess we'll see you later then. It was nice to see you." Joey said politely to Andie as Andie backed away.

"See ya Andie," Pacey said with a small smile. Then when she darted off he turned to Joey, "well, I guess that went as well as could be hoped for."

*Pacey*

"I don't know. Hopefully it will be less eventfull then last year though. I could do for a nice, mellow year. But knowing this group, that'll never happen." Jack said, leaning back and leaning his hands back on his interlocked hands, like they were a head rest. "I wonder when Joey and Pacey will be back. Have you heard from either of them?"

*Jack*

"yeah.. bye," andie said one last time, smiling and backing away.  she turned around and bowed her head, smile fading, small tears creeping from the corners of her eyes.

andie continued to walk down the street, lost in thought.  she replayed the situation in her mind over and over.  when she looked up again she somehow found herself at the docks.  'how did i even get here?' she wondered.  'i guess i am that distracted.'  suddenly she remembered why she went out to town in the first place.  "oh god!  jack's lunch!!" she cried.  instead of going back into town, she went to the nearest payphone and phoned her house to explain to jack she would be late.  really late.

no answer.  'he's not home yet?  maybe i should try jen's.'  and continued to call her brother's closest friend in capeside.

"Yeah...she seemed in a hurry to get out of here." Joey said to Pacey. "Well...let's go and get that lunch we came here for." Joey said to Pacey.

The phone rang interrupting there conversation as Jen leapt up to answer it.  Grabbing the receiver, "Hello?  Oh hey Andie...uh huh, yeah Jack's here... ok then, I'll pass that on. Yeah see you later then." Placing the receiver down, looking at the phone curiously, thinking.  She sounded strange.she thought to herself.
Sitting back down at the table opposite Jack.  "That was just Andie on the phone.  Said she was really sorry but that she would be late getting your lunch to you.  Actually, I don't know if she's either coming here or not." giving him the message, smiling apolegetically.

Pacey nods, watching Andie go.

"Yeah, let's go eat." Pacey took Joey's hand and turned to go back to one of the little cafes. This was perhaps going to be tought then he'd thought.

Joey held Pacey's hand and entered a little deli. "What do you want Pace?" Joey asked Pacey.

andie softly hungup the phone.  'what now?' she thought.  she decided she needed to stop feeling down and headed to the library.  'well, it's not how i imagined i'd spend my last days of summer, but might as well get a head start..' she told herself.  'anything to get my mind off whatever it is that i'm feeling.'

andie left the docks, completely forgetting about jack's lunch.
